Fabiola Rodriguez-Ciampoli, the Clinton campaign´s director of Hispanic communications, sent me the note below in response to my wondering aloud about the value of Hillary Clinton racking up so many endorsements from high-profile Latino politicians. Below I’ve copied verbatim the text of her note to me:
All sitting Members of the House and Senate are also convention superdelegates to the Democratic Convention. Each Member and Senator also brings with him/her their own constituency and their own networks of volunteers and new supporters, so it becomes a multiplying effect for any candidate.
In terms of all the Hispanic leaders who have endosed us, they are also extremely important to our campaign because again, they allow us to amplify our message and have a presence at events across the country. For example, in the last few months, we’ve had Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrión travel to New Hampshire and Iowa; Dolores Huerta has been doing organizing events for us in Nevada and Southern California; Sen. Menendez has travelled to Nevada, and done interviews on behalf of the campaign in multiple outlets. Mayor Villaraigosa spent the weekend in Nevada leading organizing events for our campaing. And of course Raul Yzaguirre has been travelling and organizing events in Nevada, and is a key force behind our organizing efforts in Arizona, but also as our Chair of Hispanic Outreach, he’s been instrumental in helping us get other supporters to join us.
